Sewing projects =)

Here are some of the sewing projects i've been working on this week.
One of the perks working for a company that has an embroidery machines you can make some fun stuff.

First was a bag for my sunglasses..

Found a cute little owl to embroider. Added the black rhinestones for eyes and lined it with terry cloth.
We didnt have an exact match for the rope so i dyed it with food coloring to match the thread
^ _ ^
(Good to know: you can use food coloring to dye nylon!)
I'm really digging this little owl guy for some reason so I had a few more down in different colors

*i may be going over board =P

so my coworker saw this cute little bag/clutch at the mall the other day and wanted to see if we can make one up..
i was up for the challenge.. it turned out pretty cute..

we had her family initials on there and added rhinestones for fun (why not use em we have them lying around)

i made pockets for her too. one to fit her cell phone perfectly.

tempted to make one for myself.. maybe another day!
^ _ ^ Fun Times!!

The ultimate goal is evoke the feeling of inspiration. Music, art, and culture surrounding you. Inspiring you.
She is dancing, she is inspired, she is cultured.

Jack Daniels Cake Attempt

So a while back Mike's dad had a 59th Bday Celebration with his fam and i thought it would be a great ideal to bake a cake and design it like the Jack Daniel's Label (since he was a huge JD fan)

and so with a little manipulation with photoshop... i did a couple of versions of the label to fit the ocassion

The winner got reversed and printed out so that i could trace it out on wax parchment paper with royal icing.
I rolled out some fondant i dyed with black food coloring and laid it out on the wax paper... and rolled out the fondant over it.

I made a layered cake (chocolate soufflé, regular cake, and caked laced with a shot of JD) used coffee buttercream frosting to put it all together.. everything from scratch... then rolled the fondant right on top of the cake.

First time piping out letterings.. and making/working with fondant... here's the results.. not to bad.. but i know better next time around..

after i trimmed the cake i realized i made it a bit smaller than the template... eh.. it was my first time! next time will be better.
his dad loved the cake! and so did the rest of the family! yay!
his dad was so cute.. he liked the cake so much he didnt really want to cut it =)
here's me being silly..

[caption: ooh no! all that hard work!] =)
